Get Your Guide's Istanbul Topkapi Palace & Harem Tour Test by Nadezhda

What Nadezhda thinks

Today I learned that pastrami comes from Turkish "pastrama," which is usually a part of breakfast. We felt ourselves completely local having breakfast near a spice bazaar where we enjoyed all the colors of tea, spices, Turkish delights, cheese, and olives. Afterward, we crossed the Bosphorus on the local ferry to the Asian side of Istanbul to enjoy other local foods. My favorites are mussels with rice and Turkish breakfast soup, "beiran" with lamb stock, and Turkish milky drink ayran—it's sour and that's why it's suitable for hot summer days. I definitely recommend attending a Taste of Two Continents food tour to feel the taste of Istanbul and learn interesting facts. For example, did you know that you should have a license to make baklava and that there is even a baklava mafia in the city?
